Context

School project in a group during a one-week workshop. The aim of this project was to create an interactive installation thanks to visual or sound. Our group picked the following constraints: 1) the image had to influence the sound, 2) a webcam, and 3) papers of different colors.

My role

We imagined the concept and designed the style guide together. I was mostly in charge of the coding part with Processing, to make the webcam be able to recognize the markers on the cubes so it could launch the animations and sounds on the computer screen.

The concept

The player can compose his own music and his own music video -small characters dancing in a nightclub- thanks to colored cubes with markers. You just have to place the cube in front of the webcam so it can recognize the marker. Each cube is linked to a specific dancing character and a specific sound. So the more cubes are placed facing the camera, the more the song is agitated and the more the nightclub is full of dancing characters!

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Each cube is associated to a specific sound and dancing character.

The webcam reconizes each cube thanks to its marker. The player can add or remove the cubes he wants to compose a song.
